A tisket... a Tchotchke

Do you like a good Yard Sale?
I know I do!

What's even better than a yard sale??
One with FREE stuff that's what!!

Megan over at Beauty in the Attempt has come up with the fabulous idea of having a Yard Sale Blog Hop in which bloggers post up an item they no longer have need for and if another blogger sees it and *squeals* then it has found a new home -- for FREE!(I so love FREE stuff)

What in the heck is Tchotchke you may ask? Don't worry your pretty little head as I had to look it up too :)
Basically it is an item that you no longer have a need for. Since there is no longer a need for something, why not offer it to others as they may have the perfect spot for it in their home! WaaaHoooo it's a Win Win situation!

Today I am offering up this oh-so-adorable Pie and Cake Sale sign because for some reason I have one in my kitchen then found this one on one of my pantry shelves...weird.

This sign is roughly 17"L x 7.5"H and would bring a cool vintage feel to wherever you choose to display it. I will cover shipping so you don't have to worry about that either :)

So do you like it, love it, must have it? If so it can easily be on it's way to you shortly. :)
All you have to do is follow the super easy directions below:
{1} Become a follower of  TheNotSoModernFamily
{2}  Leave a comment about how you MUST have it
{3} On Tuesday, March 29th, I will give it to the one commenter or use a random generator(if there is more than one) to fairly give it away.

Plus -- you do not have to participate in the blog hop(as in give something away) in order to play but heavens to Betsy are you the only person in BlogLand without any extra goodies that someone else may like?(If so can you please give me tips on how to be like you??) ;)

So check the Hop below to see the offerings thus far and if you want to play -- go ahead it's FREE!!

Scattered No Longer

It has come to my attention that I have a bad habit of not taking off my jewelry when I go to bed. The reason I have deemed this a bad habit is because a few hours later I will wake-up with a necklace(or two) all tangled in my hair, or a scratch on my face from the bracelet I left on. When this happens I tend to untangle myself, take off said pieces of jewelry and toss them on my nightstand. The bad part, not worse than the tangles/scratches mind you, is that when my alarm goes off in the morning the jewelry gets scattered all over the place -- no fun finding it all again.

Due to this habit I have been on the lookout for something to hold my jewelry. Yes I have a jewelry box and even a necklace holder in the bathroom but for some reason I never take the pieces off when I am near them.

A few weeks ago MeganDVD @ BeautyintheAttempt posted her PB Knock-off  and it hit me -- that is what I need but a bowl!! --Thanks Girl!

Since I was on my way to town I figured I might as well stop by the Dollar Tree and see if I could find what I needed for the project. -- They DID! $2.14 later I was ready to work!

Supplies:
1 - Glass Bowl $1.00
1 - Glass Candlestick $1.00
1 - Tube of Epoxy Free(The HandyMan already had it!)

Step 1: Invert the Glass Bowl as shown
Step 2: Use Epoxy as directed to the bottom of the bowl and a-fix candlestick(also inverted -- you never know)

Step 3: Let dry overnight
Step 4: -- there is NO Step 4! How easy is that?!? A 3-Step project!!

Now you can use your new glass bowl pedestal to hold whatever it is you need. Maybe some pretty soaps by the sink, your daughters hairbows, or like me -- jewelry on the nightstand.

For now I had a slight change of plans and mine is displaying the lovely seashells my son brought me from his field trip to Jekyll Island last week :)

Later it will look like this:

What is something you have made that helped you out recently?

Check out my Party People for Linky Love!

What am I working on next?

Tea and Cookies Please

I will be the first to admit that even though my blog is about 3 years old I am actually a complete NEWBIE to the Blogging World. I am totally addicted to reading other blogs and seeing what kind of ideas others have. I have seen so many blogs that are absolutely stunning - either in the set-up, photos, or just plain awesomeness that makes me want to come back daily and read it. I am not saying that you may want to read my blog everyday, heck that would mean I would have to find time to post everyday first, but it would be lovely to have a nice one that makes a reader think to herself  "this is a place where I can hang out with a friend and have some tea and cookies" kinda blog. ;)

without the hats though

When I saw the blog critique offer I knew I wanted to be a part of it even though in the back of my mind I thought to myself --"Oh no what if no one likes me my blog, they may say mean things." Then I realized -- helloo this is not middle school(I hope) haha sooo I am totally open to all suggestions and comments to help me make my blog more Reader Friendly and FUN! :)

Below is the actual real BLURB about the blog hop -- which will help explain it better than I was able to above:
I am so excited to be part of a very unique blog hop. Gail @My Repurposed Life and MeganDVD @ Beauty in the Attempt are hosting “The Bold and the Beautiful-your blog reviewed”.

Please take a look around my blog, check out the layout, pages, buttons, sidebar and gadgets. I would love for you to gently critique my blog. I’m hoping you will leave me some positive feedback about my blog. It would be great if you could give me constructive criticism but be sure to tell me what you like about my blog too! Do you like my pictures? Does my blog load quickly for you? How about the font? All tips and tidbits welcome!
