Built-In Beauties

Our Emma is wanting a bedroom make-over and the one thing she has voiced is that she wants it to be Black & White. Another thing she wants is an unusual bed. "I am an unusual girl so why would I want a normal bed?" is what she always says. She has even sketched out a few ideas to show TheHandyMan but so far nothing has been finalized.

Tonight I was looking around at  bed ideas and found a Dutch Bed or as I call them Built-In Beds. I am now on a mission to do get TH to do one of these in her room. My reasoning is that is will free up floor space and add extra storage at the same time -- a win-win right?!?

Here are some beds I found that are my inspiration -- we will see what Miss Em thinks ;)

Hopefully TheHandyMan and Miss Emma will agree with my idea and design something specifically for her.
I will keep you posted :)

Have a great weekend!

A tisket... a Tchotchke

Do you like a good Yard Sale?
I know I do!

What's even better than a yard sale??
One with FREE stuff that's what!!

Megan over at Beauty in the Attempt has come up with the fabulous idea of having a Yard Sale Blog Hop in which bloggers post up an item they no longer have need for and if another blogger sees it and *squeals* then it has found a new home -- for FREE!(I so love FREE stuff)

What in the heck is Tchotchke you may ask? Don't worry your pretty little head as I had to look it up too :)
Basically it is an item that you no longer have a need for. Since there is no longer a need for something, why not offer it to others as they may have the perfect spot for it in their home! WaaaHoooo it's a Win Win situation!

Today I am offering up this oh-so-adorable Pie and Cake Sale sign because for some reason I have one in my kitchen then found this one on one of my pantry shelves...weird.

This sign is roughly 17"L x 7.5"H and would bring a cool vintage feel to wherever you choose to display it. I will cover shipping so you don't have to worry about that either :)

So do you like it, love it, must have it? If so it can easily be on it's way to you shortly. :)
All you have to do is follow the super easy directions below:
{1} Become a follower of  TheNotSoModernFamily
{2}  Leave a comment about how you MUST have it
{3} On Tuesday, March 29th, I will give it to the one commenter or use a random generator(if there is more than one) to fairly give it away.

Plus -- you do not have to participate in the blog hop(as in give something away) in order to play but heavens to Betsy are you the only person in BlogLand without any extra goodies that someone else may like?(If so can you please give me tips on how to be like you??) ;)

So check the Hop below to see the offerings thus far and if you want to play -- go ahead it's FREE!!

Éirinn go brách!

Disclaimer: I am not Irish, I do not have any St. Patrick's Day decor in my house, I am not wearing green and I don't even like the color Green if I am being honest. While I do not celebrate St.Patrick's Day I do dream of going to Ireland one day(it's on my yet-to-be-written-down Bucket List) and so I thought I would let y'all take a peek of the place I dream of. -- I mean today is a major Irish Holiday in case you were not aware!

Behold the Beauty

Best Roof EVER!

Why yes ma'am, I would love to move in today and renovate for you(using your funds) ;)

I have my book and blanket ready to relax stream-side!

Leave me here among all the colors and history -- swing by on the way home and get me!

Stunning!

I do love old graveyards

Toss in a castle and it is even better!!

These photos and more can be viewed at Budget Travels 26 Stunning Photos of Ireland - I have to agree, they are stunning for sure!

While I was checking out the photos I also learned a few things that I didn't know about Ireland.
1. It Is an Offense to Be Drunk in Public (though rarely enforced as long as you are not bothering anyone LOL)
2. Only 2 Members of U2 Were Born in Ireland - Hey, they are still an Irish band to me *grin*
3. A Hospital in Belfast Is a World Leader in Kneecap Reconstruction -it seems "Shooting people in the kneecaps was a favored way for Republican and loyalist paramilitaries to control their own neighborhoods" -- OMH!!
4. More Guinness Is Sold in Nigeria Than in Ireland - This one makes me laugh for some weird reason.
- Hope these made you smile as they did me.

If you celebrate St. Patrick's Day I wish you a happy day filled with lots of Luck and Laughter(and green beer if that's your thing.) If you don't -- tomorrow is Friday so you can celebrate the weekend! :) :) :)

Is there a Holiday that it seems everyone you know celebrates but you just don't get it or really even care about it? I am curious!

Don't Blame Me { Pinterest }

Do you have the distinction of being a Pinner? Do you know what a Pinner is?(NOT the illegal kind) A Pinner is someone who likes to share the lovelies they find on the www with everyone on Pinterest.

Ohhh you have never heard of Pinterest? OhMyHeavens are you ever in for a treat!

--- Pinterest is a social catalog service. Think of it as a virtual pinboard — a place where you can post collections of things you love, and "follow" collections created by people with great taste.

Dumb it down you say? Basically it is a site where you can "pin" photos of things you like that you find while online. Like if you have a thing for Modern Furniture, you can pin(save) the photos you like to your board. That way you have all the photos of items you like in one place--and not 100 bookmarks to go through when looking for something.(Not that I have that mind you)

Anywho -- let me share some oh my fave pins with you and that will give you an idea of wtheck I am talking about.

Are you ready for some Eye Candy?!?!?

So there you have a small sampling of some of my pins. Let me know if you would like to experience Pinterest as I have a few invites left to share. Heck if I am starting you on a new addiction - I might as well be official with it ;)

You can follow me on Pinterest ~~~> Here
I can't wait to see what Lovelies you find :) :)

Tuesday Tutorial Shares

While I myself have been totally uncreative this past week, thankfully others have been completely crafty. That makes me happy for two reasons. 1 - so that I can delight in their craftiness and 2 - so that I can share that wonderful delight with you!

Here are a few of the lovelies that I can't wait to try myself!

-- DIY Jars from Krystina @  Lollipops
-- Garden Seat Makeover from Myra @ The Casabella Project
-- Candlestick Love from Amy @ Just Pleased as Punch
-- Drop Cloth Painting(not finished yet but WOW) from Suesan @ Frou-Fru Gal

A few more...

-- Freezer Paper Stencil from Denise @ Pink Postcard
-- Parker's New Table and Chair from Jen @ Scissors & Spatulas
-- Message Board from Susan @ HomeRoad
-- Mambo Number "5" from Lisa @ 504 Main

I hope you enjoy these beauties as much as I have! Some of these blogs are new to me and I am looking forward to checking those out more this evening.

Have you been fortunate to come across a new blog or two that you simply adore? If so I would love for you to share the link with me!

Thanks to everyone who sent Ms.Emma well wishes last week when she was under the weather. Thankfully she is back to her regular awesome self now. I think it helped that on Sunday she came home from my Mom's with a new dog -- a little Chihuahua named Max. She has wanted one for so long, so needless to say she is a happy camper!
